Me: playing bass for Deep Purple in the late 60s/early 70s. Roger Glover did a good job, but I could have done better.

-Malcolm Young of ACDC. I kinda had his job in a tribute band, years ago. Cranking out 3-chord progressions through blazing Marshall amps for 2 hours was a lotta fun.

I know this is off script: “Sergei Rachmaninoff”

How is it off script? SR is one of the greatest composers in history, although Bach was the most brilliant.

Malcolm Young was the greatest guitarist in history.

I'd sub for Jim Morrison.

Um...while a huge Malcolm fan, he was not (imo) the greatest, that would be Al DiMeola or John McLaughlin or Andres Segovia.

--But Angus admitted several times Mal was better than him. I have seen soundcheck footage of Mal ripping leads. He simply couldn't be bothered to do it live, mostly cause he was too drunk for most of his career (by his own admission). RIP M.Y.

It was a German minimalist band called 'Trio', early 80s. They were indescribably horrible, and admitted it. Their big hit was 'Da Da Da'. The drums were from a computer, and the drummer liked to sit behind the drums, eating and reading the newspaper while the beat played. I'm not sure if he even could play drums. They were quite popular, and made lots of money.

I think I'd have to be something like a drummer, bass player, or guitar player that's simply told what to do. After having learned some things after a 3 decades of playing music, I realized that I'm a total musical idiot. I was not capable of noticing or figuring anything out on my own. I think I would've developed into an awesome drummer, though, but drums are too much noise and too inconvenient.

As a semi-pro musician, I wish more musicians thought like you. Too many are delusional, and think they are SO much better than they are.

I went like 15 years without even knowing about note centers. I didn't really understand what it meant to be in the key of C as opposed to A minor. I knew both of them had the same notes, but I didn't know how to tell which was which.

I've been playin in bands for 30 years. If the root of the chorus is A, I say 'it's in the key of A', although it may or may not be true.
