It's hard to think of bands that I hate since most of what I hate is just boring pop and I listen to a lot of 60/70s shit and like 90's grunge that is certified good. It took me a while to come around to Alice In Chains but they are right under Soundgarden in my book for grunge. I always found Jimi Hendrix's tone to be grating until I dropped acid and listened to it (vimeo.com).
Something like The Mars Volta (youtube.com) is also very abrasive and schizophrenic at first but it's fucking interesting and has some crazy building crescendos.
