I saw a really interesting video online about how hats went out of fashion and some of the root causes. It mentioned the growing use of personal automobiles (and the lower roof line) as a large cause. I'll see of I can find it. I remember the host of the video being annoying as hell, though.
EDIT: The cuck hosting is even more annoying than I remember. Holy shit, you're gonna want to slap the computer screen.

I got a few seconds in and through my phone through a picture window. Thanks prof.

I warned you.
That would be an interesting video, but I believe that it and videos like it were made to run cover for the phenomenon that is speaking of. A subject that always seems to be redirected/misdirected and explained away with nice sounding theories.

From ' post:
The hat rule was so strong, that after a certain date in the fall, if you didn't switch your hat from straw to a fedora or bowler, you ran the serious risk of having gangs of youths (whites, not niggers) surrounding you, tearing the straw hat off your head, and stomping on it. I'm not kidding, this actually happened. You were forced to make the hat change whether you wanted to or not. God alone knows what would have happened to you of you had dared to go out in public hatless.
I'm not arguing against that at all. My father and uncles talked about that happening. Hats were a huge thing, socially.
Oh I didn't take it that you were arguing against that. I was simply letting you know what I think about it. You are 100% correct. Hats were a huge thing socially.

Yeah, what he said.
I've seen rationalization after the fact. Everyone's a Monday morning quarterback. But I haven't seen an explanation that satisfied me.

By the way, I have quite the collection of hats myself. Mostly flat-top and newsboy hats, but a few others as well.
