I’ll give you an actual answer instead of pretending like I don’t use modern technology while shouting from a soapbox.

Cx File Explorer is excellent. Files by Google is solid. (Contrary to your experience.)

Cx file explorer is great, I also use mega upload to store/archive all the memes and articles

I regularly move all files and images off my jewgle phone (got it free) to my desktop. I use as many free open source apps as possible with as many permissions turned off as possible- even if it proves to be inconvenient (darn that three seconds wasted ok'ing the app). Look on fdroid.org or try aurora store (auroraoss.com)

While you're at it, download and install newpipe and stop using youtube.

Youtube Vanced still works, for now at least.

I know a lot of people swear by it; the only reason I don't use vanced is because I don't have a youtube account or need some of the capabilities of vanced. Amazing app though.

I've been playing around with rumble these days. They got it working way better than the last time I was on it back in 2020. All it was back then was podcasts and tin foil shit. Now at least it hase some music.

Newpipe is a foss front end or wrapper for youtube free of ads and other garbage.

If you use the brave browser it cuts all the YouTube ads. I'm sure brave has its bad points but it's been good to me for a while.

Dont you have that Files app? Or just plug into your PC and use the PC to move files around.

Yep. You have to click "usb for file transfer" or something like that. Easy to do.

First, get f-droid. The app quality vs the play store is nuch better.

I use "Dir" for this. It's pretty barebones, but works well enough.

I have f droid I just never could find anything I wanted to use.

I have a thumb drive with both usb and usbc connectors.

When my phone runs low on file space, I transfer the files onto the usb and eventually onto my long term storage drive. Works on any phone.

My next cell phone is going to be a Pixel and then I'm going to put GrapheneOS on it.

Or from the play store Solid Explorer or Total Commander

I have a OnePlus phone and it came with "OnePlus File Manager" installed by default. Seems to work OK. Open source. Available at Play Store, but only for Android 11 or higher

Define "file management".

A fair question I want to just basically be able to when I get something and I put it in a file folder I want to be able to find that file folder when I'm done with it easily and just wipe it out like I've been getting audio books and they're like 54 chapters long and I want to clean up the space once I'm done with them and I'm trying to delete them and I can't figure out where the hell they all are I can only find a track or two so I'm just trying to figure out a way if there's an easier way to get rid of everything and actually delete the file folder at the end of it too maybe that's in the Google one I just can't figure it out so there's got to be one that's completely idiot friendly which is about what I can handle. The one on Samsung was pretty easily figured out but I don't have a Samsung phone I got this Motorola. And you're going to get a run-on sentence for me because why not my gift

I don't store anything there and wipe the history once a week.
