Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. They lived though all of this bullshit, yet they still in large believe "muh Ukraine!".

I can't wrap my head around it.

*not to mention they seem to just forget about NAFTA shipping all of the jobs that they enjoyed away for there kids.

Insane.

Not all boomers are brainwashed idiots but a damn good majority are. Imagine what it's like growing up with them and watching them do mental gymnastics to deny everything happening in front of their faces. My mother is very proud of being very informed by MSNBC. It's a nightmare world for me. I just talked to my father for the first time in 3 years and the first thing he says is "You have all of your shots right?" My answer " Not a fucking chance." That was probably the last time I'll see him again, he's 89.

You still have to "honor mother and father" and that's a natural commandment.

It's not at all about "respect is earned," not with your parents.

It is a tenet that is necessary for a stable society. They gave you life, they took care of you when you were helpless (though with a thousand faults, like all of us), utmost honor is due them.

And consider why in the world would you have been any different from them if the tables were turned.

"For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?"

I love and respect my father. My mother is a manipulating egomaniac who has caused pain and misery to everyone around her even her grandkids.

You are a good person.

Don't let her sin become your sin.

The obligation to her is of God and TO God, you will be blessed for honoring Him by honoring her.

This is unbelievably well put. I am stealing this.

I appreciate reading your perspective. And I agree. Other than a few exceptions most of us should naturally show respect and patience to our families and especially parents. Even if they are normies.

Thanks, yes it's just Biblical teaching of course based on the fifth commandment and elucidated (for lack of better word, I guess 'expounded upon' would work) by the great European theologians of the 1600s.

It's difficult for sure due to some parents' faults and sins but necessary for order and also it's a blessing to those who endeavor to keep the commandment.

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth."

Appreciate whatever time you may have with them. If you don't, you'll regret it later on.

[–] 1 pt

Just say yep, got them all. Now tell me how great the 40/50s were again

[–] 1 pt

As my grandpa would say, them good old days weren't all good.

[–] 2 pts

Bullshit. A vastly more White and more Christian society is going to be by and large better in so many ways. He's only projecting whatever crap he was personally going thru

I know the few left from the "Greatest Generation" or "Siilent Generation" get on your nerves but I always admired how they can do calculations in their heads.

Not all boomers are brainwashed idiots but a damn good majority are.

That was probably the last time I'll see him again, he's 89.

God fucking Damnit. 89 is 12 years too old to be in the Baby Boom Generation. The oldest Boomer today is 77. 89 years old puts him in the Silent Generation, same as Pelosi, Biden, Schumer, and McConnel.

You young people suck at anything that has anything to do with math! How the fuck do some of you manage to program computers without knowing basic arithmetic?

I'm actually a boomer and meant my friends are the brainwashed idiots. I started another paragraph but should have started with the older generations are worse. Soon as I posted it I thought to myself, someone's going to call me out on that mistake. Good job.

Well, to be fair, Clinton and W were both Boomers of the upper caste, and look what knuckleheaded dipshits they turned out to be.

[–] 7 pts

Why do younger people trust the government when they have the internet?

[–] 3 pts

They largely don't realize how curated and censored the mainstream web is these days. If you weren't online before 2010, it's not obvious how things used to be. That's my guess anyway.

[–] 2 pts

Right, and it was worse for boomers, much worse.

[–] 2 pts

I would agree that the ability to actually find any true information was more difficult for boomers. They mainly had TV, radio, newspapers, and the library, which still today are completely controlled and sanitized institutions.

I do think however that the youth of today are being hit even harder with highly effective propaganda that has been perfected by decades of experience and psychological/behavioural research.

It's difficult to say which is worse exactly, but your point is not without merit.

Boomer here and I say fuckem

[–] [deleted] 4 pts

I honestly think it's the medication. If they can stay off the medication and not watch TV, they seem to maintain their sanity. Boomers were all hippies once, and deeply distrusted the "Man" (government).

[–] 4 pts

Boomers all know the gov killed the Kennedys but also know the gov would never kill a president

[–] 4 pts

Stupidity. I watched my parents go from someone that had a suspicious eye for everything to people who trust the television.

Old age must make you dumb.

I made a family party very uncomfortable tonight and I feel like I need to write a manifesto now.

I heard a gentleman by the name of A. Hitler had some ideas you may want to check out. Wrote a whole book on his struggles.

[–] 2 pts

You haven’t yet?

[–] 1 pt

sadly no...

[–] 2 pts

I'm sure genetics play a role here too.

I think it's just old people.

My folks bought into that Alexa shit, the things they ask it are amusing. For example, I bought a thing on eBay and had it sent there via USPS because I wasn't going to be around to collect at my house. It was due some Saturday I was there, so my father tries to ask Alexa if there was any mail. I go "How is Amazon going to know about an item bought on eBay by someone who doesn't live here and got shipped by USPS?" I don't think the absurdity got through.

[–] 2 pts

That's exactly what happened to my father. They are both 75. My mom was always very trusting in the government and media, but my dad wasn't. He was vehemently against a lot of things. He had never take any flu vaccines telling me it was a scam. Now he's taking everything they tell to take. They have both aged a lot in the last two years.

[–] 3 pts

They don’t they just don’t want to rock the boat and miss a ss check

[–] 3 pts

Truly incomprehensible. Just a glimmer of rationality/logic would be nice.

(prepare for incoming; you say "boomers" and they all come running to say "not me")

[–] 5 pts

I would expect any boomer on Poal to be an exception.

[–] 1 pt

only if they truthfully atone for the period of time they were an NPC

[–] 2 pts

Are you religious? Why do you trust your god? People who trust the government (not just boomers, all of them.) really think the same way as religious people. They see faith in the government as a virtue with it's own intrinsic value, whether or not it's rewarded, just like a Christian might see faith in God.

What is faith if not unearned trust? In other words, they think trusting the government makes them good people.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

They don’t know what else to do, they’re all in.

[–] 1 pt

They tap into social causes, morality (ironic since the state is the most immoral human organization in existence, bar-none). Fitting in socially is a strong subconscious drive.
