Keep metal coathangers and lineman's pliers in your car at all times. I have fixed more stuff with coathanger wire than I could count. One time I actually fashioned a Porsche clutch clevis out of coathanger wire while sitting on the side of the highway - and it held for a week until I could go buy the real thing. Metal coathanger wire is crazy useful in myriad ways.
