We also still had a family owned grocery store. The kind of place where you could just pay your bill at the end of the month. Then Bilo came to town. Less than a year and the family owned grocery store was shutdown.

I don't know your age or if you can remember stores like this, but anytime these giants move in, there's nothing you can do. They can lose money for long periods of time until you're gone. Again, they can set their prices to lose money for years to get rid of you. If that won't work, they have all kinds of other tricks to get rid of the competition.

The hardware store I was talking about was outstanding for decades. All it took was one chain that was related to the same service to shut them down.

I went to Lowes once for an adapter to connect a propane heater to a 20lb tank. I assumed the local hardware store wouldn't have it. Lowe's employee told me it didn't exist and would be dangerous. Went to my local hardware. He pulled up the adapter on Amazon and said," You can order this for $15 or I can build you a copper one for about $20-$25." 15 minutes later I was buying a copper tubing one that I still use every winter.
