My brother will not let dad stay with him at the his house. he says their lives are too complicated and they have to do all this stuff and it would just make for an awful time trying to entertain our father. i don't understand this rationale and i gave my brother a bunch of shit for it saying hes your dad why can't he stay in the house? let him do whatever he wants within reason. i don't understand why this is even a thing. if he wants to sit and watch tv, let him watch tv. wants to read a book let him read a book. if he wants to play with the kids let him play with the kids. hes family not some rando. my brother got pissed off at me and then said hey pal when you have your own house then you could have him stay all you want until then you can't busybody in a situation you dont know anything about. but i do know thats the thing. dad can be a little authoritarian at times but thats easy enough to shut down. how hard is it to tell dad to turn off fox news and head phone dick morris, its not. see my mom went to a nursing home last week and dads all fucked up over it and in my opinion casting him out on the street is just niggardly imo. where's the compassion..... what say you blokes?

I get along more or less with my father now. We're just getting old so what's the point of not liking each other. Eventually in the next couple of years hes gonna drop dead and then a couple years after that it's my turn. So might as well enjoy it while you can..

I'm not catholic, but was raised in a church. Had good folks that loved me and beat my tail when I did wrong, and sometimes when I didn't deserve it. It's exactly like you said. Both my folks are gone now and I'm getting old. I have grandchildren! My parents did the Best they knew how, and tried to teach me to do the same. They did a lot better job than I did. My children mostly don't care if I'm alive or dead. I doubt that they would shed a tear if I died today. They would only be interested in what I left them. You are doing the right thing!

Thanks bud. Can you see the grandkids ever? This is what im trying to get my brother to allow more of. My dad loves those kids so much. Fuck he even pays for 1/2 their private schooling. But my brother just wont let him in and it makes me so darn mad. Its cruel imo.

Awe man! That's horrible! Your brother is messing up Hugely! Yes! I see all of my grandchildren whenever I want. My children don't hate me or keep me out like your brother does your dad. They just don't respect me, at all. They don't care enough about me to get upset if I killed over. They Would get upset about their children hurting if I kicked the bucket, but they wouldn't be upset about me being gone. Now my grands? They believe that I am the Greatest of all time! I'm their hero! That's why I'm saying that your brother is screwing up big time. His children will hold it against him that they didn't get to be around their grandpa! He is setting himself up for hard times in the future.
