My brother will not let dad stay with him at the his house. he says their lives are too complicated and they have to do all this stuff and it would just make for an awful time trying to entertain our father. i don't understand this rationale and i gave my brother a bunch of shit for it saying hes your dad why can't he stay in the house? let him do whatever he wants within reason. i don't understand why this is even a thing. if he wants to sit and watch tv, let him watch tv. wants to read a book let him read a book. if he wants to play with the kids let him play with the kids. hes family not some rando. my brother got pissed off at me and then said hey pal when you have your own house then you could have him stay all you want until then you can't busybody in a situation you dont know anything about. but i do know thats the thing. dad can be a little authoritarian at times but thats easy enough to shut down. how hard is it to tell dad to turn off fox news and head phone dick morris, its not. see my mom went to a nursing home last week and dads all fucked up over it and in my opinion casting him out on the street is just niggardly imo. where's the compassion..... what say you blokes?

There seems to be a whole lot of family drama that you are not disclosing and we don't want to hear.

Let's go ask his brother...

His brother probably sighs and says: "Let me tell you about our dad and why he's not allowed to stay here."

Sure there is and you're right. I guess i should just be an observer and keep my thoughts to myself about their relationship.

That's how I have been keeping myself sane for all these years.

I just let both sides talk to me and vent about their conflicts while I keep things neutral between me and them.

Yeah thats what i did up until this. It just blew my mind how cold my brother was over this. Sure my dad was an ass but its not like he burned cigarettes out on our skin. He did the typical dad beatings and berating that go hand in hand with a Irish catholic upbringing.

Either your brothers wife is a bitch, he has something to hide like drug use, or there is a history between him and your dad that we don’t know about.

Wife definitely rules over my brother. Kids are wild idiots who throw temper tantrums if they dont get their way. No corporal punishment at all. My dad gives him money for the children's christian schooling. Because the public schools are filled with niggers.

Sorry man, my dad was a total piece of shit to me. He won't stop drinking and drunk dialing people, cussing them out and being an overall piece of shit. I can't wait for him to be in the ground so I don't have to deal with his shit anymore.

Im sorry your dad has failed you. Mine did for a long while too. Not like your dad but it was rough for a while. I walked away from him for 5 years. It was weird but he realized he lost me and tried to get me back. Eventually he did but it took a while.

If your parents were decent, offspring should accommodate short visits (up to like 4 nights ish) by parents. Not strange at all

There was some bullshit for sure. My brothers wife had a brady bunch relationship with her parents. When my dad and mom would visit those two would just constantly bicker and it did get stale thats for sure. But now she's gone and my thought is why cant dad and brother just be compassionate with each other.

You again. Your mom get tired of threatening you with knoives and locking you in the cupboard?

No that wasn't towards me, that was towards the home health aid she tried to stab with a knife. that got her locked up in the looney bin for 2 weeks. now she so juice on antidepressants meds she can't even unsmile her face.

Well I'll tell ya. If any of this is true I suggest you make peace with yourself and who your are and have become as the result of parents that struggled to be parents. I'd also suggest accept your parents for who they are- most likely they did not have good examples or guidance from parents or the adults around them.

Life gets easier and happier when you let go and allow yourself to live your life and be happy.

I more or less have made peace with how things have gone in my life. It's a little tricky when I go back home and I'm surrounded by rich money men because they're all layered up with shiny new shit. look at this, look at my bling bling bling. I'm like well I had a good campsite a couple nights ago, heard some coyotes and played my hermanica a little bit. They look at me mouth open like who the fuck are you. My parents did what they could. their parents were shitty assholes so it just goes down-the-line. no one's perfect I know that but when you're a kid you don't know why you're getting thrown down a flight of stairs for just horsing around with your brother. makes things a little trickier to try to love somebody after picking up your face off the floor. My father was smart though, he just worked the body, never blows to the face you. Gues he learned that from his dad.
