Define “help”. I’m not for importing those people, to be sure, if that’s what “help” means. That said, it’s an interesting shithole of a country. I used to work with lots of tech guys from there. One of them was pretty open about things in general, and I learned a lot talking to him. Contrasting what I learned through those conversations with other things I’ve learned from family with a military career and a degree in geo politics (from a military service academy), here’s what I’ve surmised. Our relationship to Pakistan is tenuous to some degree, but then it would behoove us to have a good relationship with them..apparently for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being that they are a nuclear power. But lots of nations are nuclear powers you might say. Yes but, the world has a vested interest in making sure that the “crazies” in the country don’t get a hold of those nukes. And you won’t get them to denuke because India also has nukes and pakis and dot heads are mortal enemies. So you’d have to get both countries to denuke simultaneously. Good luck with that. The paki government has to walk a tight rope.. they have to sit somewhere in the middle where the progressives in the country are happy and the extremists are at least happy enough not to overthrow the government and start a nuclear war. That’s what I’ve come to understand, though much of it may be bullshit.
