I was ripping out the cabinetry and soffit above the sink and I realized I totally and completely do not like cabinets. They take up a ton of space and make the place feel claustrophobic.
They also cut into the airspace in your work space. Atleast when the counter is too shallow and cabinet too deep.
Made me think, what heck else would I really have my way if I just didn’t care.
So far I’ve gotten rid almost all superfluous furniture, the place is basically empty. It has a kind of just moved in feeling to it. Space to think and breathe.
Put in sliding doors with three changes that actually make them end up being better than normal doors, kind of by far. Auto close / open auto latches. Door is alway 3/4” out so it can be grabbed easy. Extra embedded drawer latch added for easy closing. Three non traditional changes I’ve never seen anyone else do because fuck it I don’t care the idea sounds great and it works and I can do whatever I want because I install it myself.
And the changes are awesome and anyone would agree they’d be standard if they saw them themselves.
