I know it is pleasurable to most , but why do humans seem to have a desire or drive to be intoxicated ?

It helps me become more myopic.

For some people alchohol is the source of many of their problems. I have been told before that alchohol is the source of many of my problems. I have successfully quit drinking for a few extended periods, and it made absolutely nothing better. It indeed made everything worse.

I have been told that I need to seek professional help from a psychiatrist or therapist. I have done so I in the past. They have offered me nothing but mind-numbing drugs, and, every therapist i talk to I just end up depressing.

There is a certain aspect of reality that I can see very clearly at all moments in time when I am sober. This is a universal aspect of reality that is always there, and once you know it, you can't unknow it.

But if I drink enough I can focus on writing a silly little poem or short story, and, for just a moment, I can forget.

This really spoke to me.

Society has no problem with drugging People to produce desired behaviour, or prevent undesired behavior.

And since society is often wrong, or of mixed opinion of what is desirable this produces the clown world.

If you don't love the elementary/high school environment, this is proof of a chemical deficiency, which should be rectified with ritalin. School is treated as a fun, rewarding experience, and failing to have that experience is a disease that society drugs.

Same with being happy to goto work. If you tell the counselor the exact truth about how it's a source of income only, that's proof of a negative attitude. NORMAL people must report a positive attitude towards such things. Or be diagnosed as having a disease, that is "cured" by assorted drugs. Usually SSRI

But if you smoke weed to help with how much work sucks, that's bad. Pfizer and Merck didn't profit, and more importantly, your government neither approved, nor profited. Off to Coventry with you, and jail if we can.

Society doesn't know it's ass from its elbow when it comes to work or happiness, and you should often reconsider following advice from someone who's life you wouldn't wanna replicate.

The man wouldn't put as much effort into telling you lies about drugs, if there was enough Truth to justify abstinence.

The fact that you have described having the self control to abstain and evaluate your life is proof of this.

“I can’t tell if you’re buzzed or if you’re sober”

That’s because I don’t act different, I just think less.

Was in a somewhat similar similar boat, was doing quite well actually. Got super sick (unrelated to alcohol), lost my job then proceed to go off the deep end and became a hardcore alcoholic for abit. Quit cold turkey like a retard and ended up in the hospital. Be careful friend.

Thanks Friend.

I appreciate your thoughts and advice on this subject.

But my problem is more with reality itself.

Alchohol is a beverage I drink to dim my own view of reality.

If I view reality when entirety sober, I see things I don't want to see.

Grand Vistas of Existence and every Creature of Creation suffering despite not actually requesting to Exist.

There is no justification.

I am sick.

But so is this World.

And I thank you for your thoughts.

The world sucks, I agree but, there is also some awesomeness. I don't have a solution for you (not even sure if I have one for myself), just worried your a bad event or two from falling off like I did.

I've detoxed once in a hospital, but I've detoxed twice randomly. I never ended up in the hospital again though.

Sorry to hear about the detox but super glad your determined not to do it again. I'm determined as well.
