Simply untrue. Maybe it depends on where you live, but where I am there is a lot of people, especially white men who work these kind of jobs. And also, Mexicans are not cheap. They are just as much as a white guy. They stand around Home Depot and will not come off the lot for under $25 an hour. That is without having any tools, any skilled knowledge. Some of them work hard. But in my experience they are really aren’t worth the money. I think the reason people want to hire them is just that things are simpler. You pay money and they work. There’s no person asking for benefits, there is no expectation of upward mobility. There may also just be too many unskilled jobs and not enough people to fill them, that is where the Mexicans come in. Or for some like me it’s because we need them in a pinch. When we don’t have the guys we need we go to Home Depot and pick up a couple for the day
