You can have either good audio quality or good ANC, but not both. Sorry to say.

If you want the best of the best of the best ANC? Bose QC45. or Sony 1000-XM4. I would say Bose QC25 instead of the QC45 but everything is going Bluetooth these days so you really need it. I've had the QC25 and now I have the QC45 and there is a huge quality upgrade. Even though you are giving up removable battery, the Lion battery lasts a long time on the QC45.

Some people say the Bose has better ANC, others prefer Sony. With either you can't go wrong.

I think the audio quality from these headphones are very good, but audiophiles say they are not great. I'm not an audiophile but I'm sure that if someone put them side to side with true high quality audio headphones I'd be able to tell the difference in quality (and say the Bose and Sony aren't that great). But like I said, I'm no audiophile and I really enjoy them. I am all about the ANC so I don't care about having 100/100 audio quality. I want to make sure I don't hear the airplane engine when I fly... and I don't.

I also have ANC buds, the pixel buds pro. The Bose ANC blows away the Pixel buds pro ANC.

I bought the Sony because side by side they were quieter in the airport. I bought them mostly for silence, not to listen to anything. I didn't compare sound quality.

I've been very happy with Sennheirsers.

I have a PCX-550-II, but that's more of an older model. Sound and noise cancelling are great. Noise cancelling does not rely on pressure, so its more comfortable to use, at least for me.

Ops-core if you can afford them.

Sordin's are more affordable and do almost the same job.

I still really love my Bose QC25, the 35 series was nice too (same item from what I could tell).

They are expensive. I paid like 289 on sale over 5 years ago now.

Same here. I equate audiophiles to that guy who genuinely appreciates a 400 dollar bottle of wine more than a 40 dollar. Insert your own price here, but even some 2 buck chuck can be fine to me.

Bose noise cancelling is about blocking the rest of the world out the best. Although my understanding is the sony in ear noise cancelling wireless earbuds are starting to match Bose. But a lotta people have outlandish expectations for which frequencies, and to what extent sound cancelling works.

I’ve got the qc25. Love it. Really works. Beautiful headphones. Excellent sound. Life saver. Needed it so I could work “in silence”.

How is the music quality? I tend to see they they have some of the best if not the best anc.

Its pretty damn good. I can notice a tiny bit of distortion in base on something really base heavy. but we are talking about small noise cancelling headphones, and its nothing i notice on 99% of songs... but a couple have hit it for them. does it. I should add that its only at high volume...

mids come across crystal clear and highs seem reproduced excellently as well.

I am not an audio engineer so I cant really get into great detail, but they sound pretty damn great to me.

I have these. Not so good for gaming but for work and music they are awesome

My pair of Bose are going on 10 years old. I wish they were blue tooth. But honestly good quality. Very satisfied and will buy another pair when these eventually fail.

Maybe look into Fostex earbuds.

Bose have good noise canceling but overall poor sound range.

"Got no highs, got no lows, must be bose."

Their fame and reputation comes from technological advances in making more sound come from smaller packages, and that got equated to "good" sound to the masses. It is not.

Sony has clean sound but a high price and they are honestly a little too sterile generally for my taste. Like the sound is filtered through a scrubber or something.

Sennheiser is a solid product at a good price. Maybe not "the best" but a damn good product at a damn good value.

Yamaha is a music company. They make quality shit. I think their prices are insane though.

Harmon kardons are solid but they come with a brand price tag. If I was gonna pick between them and sennheiser in go with sennheiser for value I think but both are good.

Shures have always been a strange brand to me. Solid performance and at sometimes super pricey and other times a steal. Idk what their headphones cost.

Am interested in noise cancelling for shooters too.

Ops-core if you're balling.

Sordins if you are not.

My approach for that was standard earmuffs coupled with silicone-tipped earbuds, connected to a hearing-aid type amplifier. Blocks external sound, then lets amplified sound in (which can't be loud since the earbuds can only make so much noise).
