You just don't drink. You say no. The first no makes the second easier. The second makes the third.

The one thing that you have to always keep in mind is that you aren't just saying no this once. You didn't "have a good week so you should celebrate". You have to say

"NO, I don't drink. Ever." Abd mean it. One drink will put you right back where u are.

It sucks. For a few weeks. Who fuckin cares. What were you doing for a few weeks last year? How about 10 years ago? You won't even remember those few weeks. What you WILL remember is the pride and confidence you have in yourself when you succeed. But you have to mean it. Every time.

"NO, I don't drink."

Oh and punch yourself in your broke ass collarbone every time you want a drink. Maybe that will remind you why you don't drink anymore.

i don't know mate.

the only way to stop drinking is just to stop.

how do you stop?

you have to not want to drink anymore. afaik its the only way. if you still like to drink, you're going to drink, no question.

how do you live with yourself. huh. no clue. i drink regularly.

This is the best reply on here. You have to want to stop and know why. I think that's why some people do those programs to find out the why. When your addiction hits you have to have a good reason why you're quiting to have a shot of convincing yourself not to on the moment.

I'm gonna stop in a couple months once I get the new baby out of my bedroom and have room for a home gym again. I don't have time to do an hour of cardio and lift so that 300 or 400 calories I give to booze daily is gonna have to get cut until I drop about 15lbs.

It’s a mental game for sure. You have to want to quit more than you want to continue drinking.

Stop playing victim. You're not doing something difficult.

Spoken like anyone who's never struggled with an addiction. "Jeez get over yourself. Just stop, how hard could it be?"

I bet you also tell clinically depressed people to cheer up. Yeah like that's all they were missing.

addiction

Choice. You can't be addicted to alcohol, it's a choice. An addiction is an abnormal dependence on something. Alcohol creates a chemical dependence in the body by choice of the drinker (to drink). That's not confusing. But you are right. I've never struggled with making poor choices about what I drink and cause chemical dependence on myself of.

I bet you also tell clinically depressed people to cheer up.

Nope. Cool strawman. I tell them to go outside, get regular exercise (actual, vacuuming is not exercise, unless you're like 75+), eat healthy, and do productive things however meaningful or meaningless. Oh I also tell them to stop listening to their (((doctor))) (actually jewish or not is irrelevant) as he prescribes them (((mind killing drugs))).

depending on how much you were drinking you may not be able to just stop without risking serious long term health conditions. You might have to slowly wean yourself off.

There was a youtuber who used to drink A LOT and tried to quite very quickly but ended up getting nerve damage in his eye and now has a blind spot forever. It just depends how much you drink. Just use caution.

If you don't seek the help of Jesus Christ, you won't stop drinking. It's pretty much that simple. You can lie to yourself all day long, about how strong you are, how determined you are, how you don't believe any of that religious crap ... and at the end of the day, if you don't ask God for help, you won't find the strength to quit permanently. You will quit for a week or two, a month or two, then be right back where you started, and it will happen again and again and again, until you lose your arrogance, your hubris, and admit to yourself that you have no power, that God has all the power, and that you need God's help. Do it, don't do it, that's up to you, but don't kid youself you are going to stop being an alcoholic without the help of Christ.

It’s not how the fuck do I live with myself if I don’t drink. It’s how the fuck does anyone else live with me when I drink. Drinking does not bring out the good part of you. It brings out the dick part of you.

Edit to say I wish you the very best in quitting. Enjoy a sober life.

You have to live with yourself no matter what, so do you want to live with a drunk?

But how the fuck do you live with yourself?

It naturally brings the question "what's wrong with yourself?"

...

gave you a good advice IMO

I have a bunch of rules, when it comes to alcohol

1- No bar, you don't go to the bar to drink, consider bars as stuffs of the past, no more bar/pub, ever. Because you know, you drink, you talk with another guy, it goes into argument annnnnd it's on. So no bar.

2 - "one for the road, and one for not leaving lame"; no more than 2 glasses, because the third... Is the one that leads to the entire bottle

3 - Only drink when the sun is gone, no drink during the day

Just stop idk I quit cigarettes the same way. Just don't put that shit in your mouth, pretty simple tbh

If your 'self' is that big an insufferable pisser, maybe instead of camouflaging it with drugs...it's time for an overhaul. Fix what is broken, if you cannot coexist with it as is. Pry your arse out of the La-Z-Boy, and do the work that needs be done to make your 'self' at least tolerable.

this is good advice

You both are right. Yet I drink out of despair for humanity. Big picture.

I invision more. And would appreciate some help. A new relationship I'm forging appears promising.
