Real musicians play their own instruments or sing with their own voices, without artificial enhancement. If you can't get up on a bare stage with a guitar or a piano and blow an audience away, you are nothing. Very few pop musicians today have any musical talent of any kind.

Sometimes, but don't think that a guy playing a synth CAN'T play piano. He probably started as a kid, and had lessons. Synth is a logical progression for many when they get tired of the same old piano sound.

You have to know how to play music PLUS understand computers and interfaces. This confuses the fuck out of stoned out hippies with long braids and a guitar. That's why they shit-talk people who make synth music.

I personally don't like the sound of most of it, but it still takes more knowledge than guitar.

I like it. It's like country, if people do not share my interest, that is fine.

I listen to a lot of it. Ladytron's last album is a masterpiece of electronic soundscapes. People who say EM can be made by anyone with a laptop should try it sometime. Silver Swans, Phantogram...shit, there are so many amazing electronic projects out there.

Electronic music promotes people who otherwise would not be talented enough to produce good music. This allows those who control the music industry to promote people based on image and not talent. RAP is promoted by those who control the music industry to reinforce to black people that the white man is keeping them down. Both issues are examples of Anti-Whiteism. It is not that they simply do not share white iinterests, they are being actively programmed to hate whites.

I'm an electronic music producer and I'll be the first to say... we're not real musicians. I don't consider myself a real musician like a traditional guitarist or pianist, although I do create music with a DAW, synths, drum machines, and even a guitar from time to time. I consider the computer to be my instrument, it's amazing the sounds you can create all by yourself without a band or anything. But having said that, electronic music in general doesn't have the soul that human played instrumentation has, so I understand people's hesitation towards it. And conversely, you can't create music these days without these tools even if you can shred. That's all the electronics are - tools just like a guitar or some pots and pans.

I think what's more important than how you make the sounds, it why you make the sounds. To me this is more deterministic if something is music. If you operate from a place of greed and materialism, you'll probably make some shit ass rap song. If you operate from a place of beauty and truth, you might make something really beautiful that actually connects with someone - irregardless of how it was created. This is what separates music from shit IMO.

Knowing this, I try to incorporate live instrumentation into my work as to breath life into it, so it doesn't sound so soulless and digital. As I kid I was total enamored by electronic music. As I get older, I crave the story telling and warmth of old country songs (I've been eating up Fred Eaglesmith recently). So I've been trying to learn guitar, traditional music theory, and songwriting to incorporate into my electronic work in hopes of bringing the soul to it.

Music is a journey, and while I agree that a lot of contemporary electronic types often lack talent and soul. It also opens up new avenues of expression to people who may not take naturally to traditional instruments, and therefore is valid. You can check my music out on spotify, let me know if it's any good.

Beyond that... rap is for nogs.

All that just to dox yourself and then ask for donations?

I don’t think you understand doxing or donations.

Electronic music can be good. Skinny Puppy, Ministry, KMFDM, they all mix instruments with electronic sounds.

Old school rap was alright, cypress hill, nwa, ect.

The new shit, is just that, shit. If I hear auto-tone I shut that shit off.

For the most part, electronic music can't hold a candle to instruments.

You can't find music with more soul, than big band blues, with brass, strings and percussion instruments.

Rap == Crap. Electronic music is just another kind of talent. It's not like playing an instrument kind of talent, but still a talent. I know this because I have done both, was good at neither.

Electronic music like witch house style I like a lot. Been a long time crystal castles fan. Rap....not so much. Beastie boys are good.

It lacks life or 'feeling'. Just like a singer will hit notes and vary notes by fractions of seconds and use emphasis when they sing the next notes to create interest and feeling is better than auto-tune. Overly digitized lacks life.

So you could tell the difference between the same electronic music played on a keyboard (multiple sessions layered) and sequenced? Or one sequenced with random delays added?

If it's dead generated music perfectly timed then it's going to be noticed. If you add another live element like a singer or other instrument or a drummer, then you can save the music by giving your audience something to enjoy. Random artificial delays (instead of purposeful emphasis and feeling) would be like talking to a crazy person, you'd get the sense something is off.
