Shit I'm reading the Prose Edda right now (only read portions before), but even in that I see so many cross parallels to other cultures be it Christianity, or other mother goddesses, down to etymology. The prose edda has many correlations with Christianity because it was written in the 1600s in Iceland by Sturri long after the great conversions. You can try the Poetic Edda which has less overt Christian overtones, but there are still overlapping motifs. This comes down to whether you believe Joseph Campbells theory of the monomyth or if they just picked up cool ideas trading and exploring then brought those tales home.
