Discs are better anyway, higher quality in video and sound also you don't lose data
disks degrade over time.
You can replace the digital copy, which is what new disks are pressed from. put it on long term storage media, multiple copies on multiple media types, access one at a time for backup purposes.
simple article. It admits that the exact longevity is unknown still because of actual lime passage, but these things have a life span and degradation point.
To assume a recorded media doesnt have a degradation point will eventually cost you some data.
