Yes, no propaganda in it whatsoever, just a thoughtful, contemplative 'thinking man's' science fiction movie. If Hollywood remade it today, the protagonist would be a black female (of course) looking for the land where 'racism doesn't exist' constantly running into 'white bigots' along the way and kicking ass, and in the end finds some alien/magic gay bar and is transformed into some superhuman transexual. At least that's my take on it, lol.
