As in de-googling and removing all the pre-installed bloat ware? or as in removing all of your data...
The former I'd recommend having a look around XDA Developers site for your phone model, the latter, reset it to factory stock, remove SD card... create new acct, take few snaps, movies, wipe, rinse / repeat a few times, and it will be safe to sell it.
If not worried about selling it, just microwave the thing.
They say you learn something new every day. I didn't know you could fry the data in the microwave. Do you know how long it needs to cook? I suppose it will look burnt after it, right?
It will destroy all pf the circuits in the phone. Rendering it completely unusable.
