I know a few people who thought Canada, New Zealand, and Australia would be refuges from tyranny and they were dead wrong. I think the red states in the USA are the best places to be. The individual states have a lot of independence. The more the federal government and the blue states go off the deep end the more the red states will get used to doing their own thing. Those red states still have a lot of people who understand the importance of freedom and the second amendment. The only way to beat that is to live so far out in the middle of nowhere that the government can’t be bothered to deal with you.
