It has been a long time since I've been surrounded in a kitchen with a bunch of Italian women cooking, but I do not ever recall hearing the term gravy. My ancestors are from Pescara.
On a side note, can you tell me why, every time I use the quotation tab to reference what someone has said, it puts a > in front of it?

I miss the kitchen part too My family was WASP and not very emotional . I felt more at home with the guineas , lol . More expressive with feelings ,good or bad
