To demoralize us. We had the pinnacle of vehicle tech and intentionally gave some of it away (Toyota) and fucked up the rest with emissions and fuel mileage mandates.

Upper end diesel trucks are still incredible machines though after you delete them.

Can you recommend a great vacuum cleaner please? I've gone through a Dyson (cheap plastic shit that breaks after less than 10 years) and recently tried a Miele because I remembered an AMA from a vaccum repairman around 10 years ago who said it was what he uses....it sucks, but not in the way you would want a vacuum to suck. It doesn't deep clean the carpets as well as the Dyson did and always leaves behind dirt that I can clearly see.
