Weird flex but okay. Modern beers have much higher ABV, there are stouts that go to 12%. Industrialization and modern consumer/club culture made it easy and common to consume distilled spirits. You can get 95% ABV these days (everclear) for a couple bucks. You can get . Why would modern alcoholics have less tolerance?

BTW medieval peasants didn't just drink beer like today and walk around constantly shitfaced, lmao. They drank small beer which has 1-2% ABV, like kvas, kombucha, etc. The type of beer people drink now was an expensive luxury.
