14 sets of 88 reps might be a little extreme...

Yes + I have a physically taxing job.

Just calisthenics lately, so no, not really.

Your own bodyweight is fantastic exercise.

cant beat pushups, pullups and situps.

My personal preference is for lifting heavy, but I have noticed my recovery time's way, way shorter than it is with deadlifts and squats.

I ditched situps for leg raises and other exercises that don't degrade one's spine over time.

Yes, I work out, and sometimes I work in.

I do pilates

So stretching is too hard for you?

[–] 0 pt

Stretching is bad for you if you stop. Pilates at least strengthens your tendons and stabilizer muscles.

Yes. Lots of calisthenics, lots of martial arts, a little weight lifting, and plenty of cardio. I train with very heavy weapons as well.

A man after my own heart! What sort of weaponry do you train with?

A big 10kg club.

That'd sure as hell build strength.

Yep. Functional/Fireman/Soldier fit. Engage in meaningful movement everyday. Kettlebells, steel maces, steel clubs, dumb bells, HIIT, hikes, jump rope, bodyweight, resistance bands, Yoga, breath work, massage, acupuncture. Dialed in dietary and nutrition protocols. No more martial arts skull bangery however, as it became antithetical to my stated goal: active longevity. Well into my 50s with biomarkers of men half my age. Activation of ones good genes and suppression of those at the murky end of the pool requires basic man-tier discipline to throw the required metabolic switches and get that natural T & HGH boosted and mitochondria increases. It is within reach of the vast majority of everyone.

Everyday, 20 push ups 15 squats 3 times a day. Doesn't seem like much but over the past year I've done more than 18,000 pushup and my body reflects it.

59 with a job that makes men in their 20's tired. I used to have that kind of energy working out after working my ass off but time has shown me that the body does not keep that energy production much past 40 or so mattering how well you ate and what you avoided. Sitting here with a cigarette and a large cup of coffee so I still take shit for granted. I literally sit in front of the computer after work immediately and doze off in a minute without trying some days.

Now put on a bunch of muscle and burned a shitload of fat so the old 260 is now around 200lbs and maintaining that without dieting at all though I watch my carb intake I'll still do chocolate "it's sometimes irresistible to me".

Might be time to get on TRT to get those energy levels back up

what is TRT btw.

[–] 1 pt

Testosterone replacement therapy. Basically you can sign up with a TRT clinic and they will ship you test to administer at home. Test levels drop down a lot in men around age 40. Makes it harder to gain muscle, lose weight, sleep well etc. TRT will get you back to levels of a 25 year old.

The 2 trades you never want to fight are drywallers and framing carpenters. All we do is lift all damn day.

Might want to leave the brickies alone.
