I bought a Craftsman 3-gallon hot dog compressor about 20 years ago. Used to use it for filling my pneumatic cannon. These days I'm not shooting the cannons nearly as much as I'd like to be, but having that little air compressor around is often a God-send.
You can't get Craftsman stuff anymore, but Home Depot has plenty of good options to choose from. A little internet research will take you further.
My recommendation? Get one. You don't need a huge one. I've gotten along on the 3-gallon size for 20 years. If I did it over maybe I'd opt for a 5 or 10 gallon model.
