Mechanical engineer here (female). I've known three black engineers. One of them did none of the work, but took all of the credit. Another one spent all of his time socializing and saying racist things to white people. The last one would repeat the same three phrases and was never able to contribute to projects. It was honestly creepy, as though he was some sort of broken robot
The companies who turn you down are poisoning their workforce. Even though I have the female adbantage, I can feel them breathing down my neck too. I've been pulled into hr for boomer black lady vax drama, and another time a vendor accused me of being racist for requesting (contract req) employee training records. My condolences for your disadvantage. Let's hope it gets better soon.
Holy cow YOU were pulled in to HR? As a FEMALE? That seems unheard of. I'd GTFO of there if I were you.
Interesting about the black engineers. Thanks for noting that.
Its not just men. I may be more likely to be taken seriously in an interview, but once I get the job they're watching my every move!
The black community got mad at me for helping an elderly lady (white refugee speaks English fluently) complete her VAX exemption form. Hr didn't investigate any of the gossip and put me on an improvement plan. My covid lawyer filed court paperwork and sent a letter " you're putting my client on an improvement plan for expectations not defined anywhere, this may be retaliation and will be brought to court, here is evidence your claims are misinformed ". Hr crones took me off the improvement plan and dropped the whole thing. Talk about white advantages lol!
