I was thinking of buying these for my door speakers in my truck. Is alpine still the best for mid-range priced speakers? I know I'll need an amp. I'll have the guys that install them help me choose an amp to make sure they are pushed correctly.

I am retrofitting my 1965 mustang with an original am radio, plugged all the holes in the doors. I went with a Bluetooth speaker system. Two JBL Charge 4 - Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speakers each set just in front of the seats on some mounts I made, and wired to USB ports I added to charge them. I use my phone to play through them and they are loud enough to hear on the freeway with the widows down.

speakers are the component that car makers cheap out on the most

"look, we have 11 speakers on this model, please be impressed by the quantity..."

same thing in UK https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpine-X-S65C-Competition-Component-Speakers/dp/B076BQCYSS £349.00

which is $418

so at $649.95 you seem to be paying a bit more?

It's not just the speakers, improving the acoustics of the car (especially the door area) counts for a lot as the interior of a car is godawful for this level of speaker maybe do those two first and see how it sounds

a lower power but better quality amp may work out better, Alpine are OK but you might like to look at other amps like Fosgate too

I think I'll just grab the infinity speakers and have the car audio guys do the math and suggest what amp I should get

[–] 0 pt (edited )

yep, Infinity Kappa have a good rep,

better asking on a car audio forum about amps, otherwise you may get upsold on what stock they need to shift. louder isn't 'betterer', domestic hi-fi's can be amazing with 20 watts, and cars are smaller than living rooms

[–] 0 pt

You're right. Didn't think about that yet

You can get more for your money with smaller audio companies. But since you noted someone else is doing the installation, you may not want to spend the time on the research.

Those Alpines are good, but I think they are expensive.

Your money might be better spent installing a subwoofer first, but there is the issue of finding space.

I don't want a huge sub. I jsut wanted awesome door speakers and some installed mid ranges.

When I was young I poured money into car audio. It's really wasteful, and some nigger will just steal it, but I understand. That said, I always liked alpine stuff.

[–] 0 pt

not putting in a sub to steal. and I'm upgrading my car alarm system to a 2 way that alerts me if my vehicle is being fucked with

[–] 0 pt

Once installed please be sure to test your system from the outside.

There is nothing more ghetto then a car with a loud system but when they are driving by all you here is loose metal or the license plate rattling.

[–] 0 pt (edited )

I'm not installing a sub to be stolen. Just awesome door speakers and two 3" midrange installed in the front dash

[–] 0 pt

And Soundskin. Which will dampen the sound

[–] 0 pt

Alpine is still a good brand for car audio, not to tier but still money well spent

Pioneer is still ok as well and so is kicker but stay away as far as you can from boss

If you are going to use the rear RCA Jack's, both are shit

You want 5 volts for the RCA outputs

[–] 0 pt

the only one with 5 volts that can go in my vehicle is $1500 and it still requires a modified fit

[–] 0 pt

yeah. I haven't been into custom car audio since 2009. I used to niggerfy my cars with rims, trunk lights, and custom installed subs

I honestly don't know what is good anymore.

Recoil audio makes great door speakers and they're us made out of Arizona. I bought a set to try amazing quality. If going to add amp I would use a lci line converter unless you have swapped stock radio for aftermarket. Lci has one that will bypass factory bass cut filters and give full audio signals

Sounds amazing and yes magnet is very large

[–] 0 pt

Never heard of them, I'll have to check out how they sound.

[–] 0 pt

ill do a audio snippet with the skar audio sub turned off. like the so much im going put them in rear to replace the pyle and add tweetwers to rear as well im super impressed. not quality but in time they will will amp soon as well. 50 rms will do greatly with them. might even add a set of 2way beside them i have plenty of room in door two i love them amazing product for the price.

[–] 0 pt

People look at the wattage , ignoring sensitivity which is dumb.

Give me 50 watts at 102db vs 500 watts at 86 any day of the week.

[–] 0 pt

How big is the door basket?

[–] 1 pt

6 1/2

[–] 0 pt

Then yeah get component speakers. 2 ways suck.

[–] 1 pt

right on. I plan on grabbing the components and having mids installed on the dash

[–] 0 pt

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_108K603CF/Infinity-Kappa-603CF.html

These will get louder as the are more sensitive.

Alpine is great no doubt, but my ears like the infinity products and is what I put in my vehicle. In addition to having a pretty flat curve, having lower ohms and greater sensitivity will make it louder to boot.

And as always, Your mileage will vary and see your doctor before starting exercise.

[–] 0 pt

right on. it has comparable rms. maybe I'll grab these instead. What amp do you suggest? I'll have my installer guys advise me, too. But I wouldnt mind hearing from you guys too

How many channels are you running? Do you have a Sub?

If you just add those speakers and Cerwin-Vega VPAS10 10" 2Ω 550W Max / 200W RMS Powered Active Subwoofer Enclosure + Bass Knob https://a.co/aAbM5RJ

I found that even a basic head unit sounds pretty damn good.

In one of my older jeeps I am running that combo, and it's surprisingly loud and great sounding off the 17Wx4 rms Kenwood head unit. Becuase the bass is what takes the power, I didn't need anything more for that one.

[–] 0 pt

No intentions of installing a sub anytime soon. I'm not running any channels atm. my stock speakers are fucked. my door drains got clogged and flooded my doors. The stock head unit still works. But im switching that out, too for an in dash screen

[–] 0 pt

What do you think about Skar audio?

[–] 0 pt

Taramps and Skar are both getting popular and seem to be decent. Skar has an ab line I have not personally heard, but I have heard the 2k sub amp and it was loud and clear .

[–] 0 pt

their website is having a sale. I was looking at these :

https://www.skaraudio.com/products/spx-65c-6-5-inch-component-speaker-system

[–] 0 pt

I'm getting a 2way alarm installed on the 15th and immediately after that I'm having those infinities put in. I'll try recording the sound. I have the best phone on the market atm so it should sound pretty good.

I have the 4 doors speakers with tweeters and 2 infinity mid range speakers for the dash. And that bad ass in dash screen.

[–] 0 pt

The Samsung's are incredible. I have recordings of (loud as fuck) professional live concerts that sounds like it was recorded by the band for a live album with high end mic's but was actually done with a single phone in the audience. .

[–] 0 pt

Lol yeah I have the s22 Ultra.

Its camera is also out of this world!

It's like having a pair of binoculars in my pocket.

[–] 0 pt

Next concert I go to I'm going to follow suit and record myself

[–] 0 pt

System sounds awesome. After I break the speakers in I'm going to add an amp and sub.

It hits every note extremely well with no distortion

[–] 1 pt

Awesome. Knew you would like it.
