Buy a server, make your own VPN and be done with it really. You can get a list of server you can bounce off of and redirect your path on the net. That is if you really need too. Really if youre going to be doing anything on the net that is less than on the up and up, just know you will be found out and nothing can be wipe from the net permanently without lots and lots of know how and what not.,
Don't know which is best but any VPN which Youtubers shill should be avoided on principle.
Kape (israeli intel) is buying them all, such as PIA (who now owns voat), ExpressVPN....
Really no way of knowing. As there is no easy way to audit and confirm a company's logging and data persistence/retension policies.
Rule 1: Anything on the internet that is free. Is free to you to use, because you are what is being sold.
"When something is free, YOU are the product."
Thats what I said in eli5 mode.
Do you use a paid one?
sometimes. on a pay as I need basis. but rarely, and just bounce around to whoever. They are short length things. Ive also got a VPS and kick on a VPN from time to time just to screw with my ISP / the data collectors. There is also a couple open wifi within easy yagi distance, my new neighbor stupidly runs unsecured wifi, not telling them, since they rent and arent white. I just abuse their internet for stuff i wouldnt want to do on my account.
Yes, same with my unsecured neighbour. Not saying i dont, cause i do too.
yagi, eh? I've used my home made one for foxhunts.. Tell me more of your secrets, cause that sounds like fun!
All you do with a VPN is change the point of spying. Plus you pay for extra latency.
I have used a couple in the past. PIA was pretty reliable with good speeds. Nord VPN was ok but seemed to lack in performance compared to PIA.
Best to assume they are all compromised though, so I'd only bother with a VPN if you have a reason other than privacy.
PIA is owned by Cape, which is owned by jews. They bought it a few years ago.
I use and like AirVPN. Good selection of exit nodes, companion website ipleak.net useful for keeping an eye on potential issues. On top of all wrappers OpenVPN. Reasonably priced.
I tried a hosted server with 1984 out of Iceland. Worked okay - you can do your own. A few bucks a month to start, but if you have a lot of traffic it may limit you.
I used Debian and OpenVPN via Freedom box. I don't have skills+time to set up a VPN from scratch, but this was okay.
You are still on record as the server owner, but maybe it is better.
None of them. There are easier cheaper ways.
Hacking your neighbors wifi :)
Mullvad
I used Mullvad on a free trial and it was great. Amazing sppeds. Windscribe's pretty good but they're U.S based. If you simply want privacy or some sense of anonymity learn to use Tor. For torrents and streaming, yeah get a decent vpn.
