You don't pay nothing. They install the panels and bill you for the solar electricity. The rates are just a little lower than your utility. They're called PPAs.
26% Federal tax credit on system install for 2022 then it drops next year to 23%. Unfortunately in Florida they just passed a bill that will be phasing out your ability to sell excess power back to the utility company. This kinda killed it for me.

That's not what OP is talking about. The deal where you pay nothing is a PPA. The solar company installs the system at no charge to you. They get the tax credit and sell you the electricity. You still have a power bill, just not from your utility.
