nah
Don't rely on door locks too much to keep you safe, most can be snapped/pulled. If you want to be safe while inside your home install old school bolts on all doors.

Yep, not everyone know how to pick locks, but good burglar could pull a lock and be inside in less than 10 second, without making much noise.
Apparently even a rake works on locks too often.
You mean for when you’re home?
Yes, so the door is bolted from inside.
They make door strips you can mount on the floor that lift up and prevent the door from being smashed open. A lock a dead bolt and the floor thing will give you enough time to pull your largest caliber rifle from your gun safe before you start blasting
got a link for those door strips you're talking about?

Never knew. Thanks
Some people don't want to spend more for an extra component. I don't believe in dead bolts because all it does is ensure your door jam is torn apart when someone breaks in.
A regular door lock is good enough to prevent a casual thief. Someone who wants to break down your door will do it and completely destroy your door jam in the process.
cordless changes everything
Agree but most exterior residential doors have both soooo...
i think this is actuall the answer. Exterior doors have them while normal doors do not.
Both locks can be locked. Making forced entry more difficult.
But the deadbolt will offer 90% of the physical resistance
Deadbolt with metal-frame door and 2-3 inch screws for the strike plate at least ensure that someone breaking the door down will wake you and give you time to have you means of neutralization ready to greet them.
If you dont want to lock your door with a key when you leave.
So you can lock yourself out of course.
what should I do to avoid this
Although if you lose your hands or eyes that may work against you.
Only use a deadbolt. Then you can only lock your door with your key, and you'll never forget it. If you did you left the door unlocked. You can also just switch to a keycode or biometric lock.
