Don't what what I "learned" per-say, but I was robbed of all my money on a scout retreat. Big deal as a kid without an allowance and I didn't get to even do the activity (spelunking/caving) because I didn't have money for the entrance fees/rentals (not sure what the money was for, but parents agreed to buy the uniform if I paid for anything I wanted to do) and none of the adults gave a fuck.... I think I was involved in that organization for less than 6 months.

I guess I learned that group events = a fucking miserable experience. I still won't willingly involve myself in anything that has more than 6~8 people involved. More than that and it's just a shit experience, every time.
