Yeah, any story that talks about the town council meetings where this a started, describe him as a real asshole. He butted heads with everyone and thought he was above basic property regulations like "connect to the public sewer system".
Is it wrong for government officials to force a sale of land from one company to another? Yeah, but he said he willing to sell. And he was offered a sum that was much more than what he paid for the land 10 years before. And it was more than enough to move his shitty muffler business somewhere else in town.
I've probably spent well over six figures on property repairs over the years because local corrupt government inspectors didn't do their job when the house was built. They've also caused me numerous delays and unnecessary cost increases on jobs over done. I've called them out on their BS several times, spoke with local politicians, threatened to sue, etc. But at no point did I ever consider writing a manifesto and attempting revenge.
And this guy was making a profit on the whole deal? Oh, he was pissed that it wasn't a bigger profit? Cry me a river. This guy was a psychopath and it was a miracle that no one was killed when he was firing weapons or demolishing occupied buildings.
The amount of hero worship that dipshit still gets is baffling. I don't think most people even know the whole story, or even care.
