I've entered my mid-twenties and for the past couple years I've been interesting myself in motorbike mechanics. I passed a year-long course and got certified to work in a garage as a mechanic, and I've just started actually working in a garage this summer. It's a lot of learning, a lot mental training to acquire new ways of looking at things, new logical pathways being opened that I never applied before (I came from a more literate/creative education so this switch is quite the contrast). It's hard work but it's rewarding, and I enjoy it. I want to be able to have my own personal garage fixing up bikes and making a living. It's hard to envision the future this early on in the process but I feel motivated to keep it up so there we go.
If you want your own shop you only have to open your own shop. Good luck
It's a lot of investment and I don't have much capital to swing around at the moment so I'm gonna wage slave it a bit longer, learn my ass off, get familiar with the field and then think about being my own boss with some more experience. For the time being I have projects of buying "cheap" broken down bikes, repairing them on my own time, and selling them off for profit. The short term goal is starting those kind of smaller projects.
sounds like a plan
