Yes it is breaking the commandment of "keep holy the sabbath day". On the sabbath they are supposed to remain at home and do no work. The string it considered an "extension" of their house. So they can cheat and move around town without leaving their house. The towns leave up the string because in Orthodox communities, they control the council. They are a majority voting block as well as political assassins if you tell them no. If the string is broken, they cannot proceed past it without committing a serious sin. Honestly, they don't give 2 shits about christians. They believe they are Gods chosen people and everyone else is nothing more than cattle. The libshits suing about nativity are atheists, not orthodox jews. They want to be left alone by government unless they want something from the government. This is why they live in insular communities.
