It's a mild form of mental illness and it's indicative of a lesser brand of personality. It's quite disingenuous to say, "It's their choice, leave them be." If they've developed this strange attitude to hoarding crap, what other aspects of life do these people perceive with this same disordered and messy approach? I repeat: hoarding is a mental illness. It's not an endearing, homestead-ish way of life.
