I think I breathe ok at night. My mind just never really rest. I just slept about 2 hours and woke back up. I can go back to sleep though if I try.
I am not trying to argue or be a contrarian, just a bit of curiosity. Try recording your self at night. Charge up your phone, get a recording app, and record your self. Sleep apnea will often see people not breathe for 10 to 30 seconds at a time. Their nervous system will wake them up to get the breathing going and people think they are waking up for other reasons.
The reason I say that is that when the rem cycle kicks in, no amount of the worlds worries will keep you from sleeping. If you barely sleep even on days where you are physically exhausted, it is almost certainly a physically related issue.
Give it a try.
I barely sleep ever lately. And when I do, it's sporadic usually. However, there are days when I get a lot of sleep. But, I still wake up almost every two hours. I'll get up to drink something and go to the bathroom. I just woke up to the sound of a bear rummaging through my garbage. I can't go back to sleep now. I have a big mess to clean up at sunrise.
As far as a recording app, I'll try that. It sounds interesting. If I'm not breathing for a few seconds before I wake, will I hear gasping sounds?
Yep. You will hear basically silence and then you will hear a huge gasp for air, as if you were underwater for a long time and about to drown.
Bears are out. Waking up to the sound of trash being thrown across the street
