I rarely sleep much these days. I'm up early in the morning. However, I'm also up at night. I don't sleep well.

So, who are the day people? And, who are the night people?

No, I'm not a stalker. Just curious. Sleepless in California.

I don't ever sleep fedboi. Come no-knock and see.

You're like me. I sleep with one eye open even when I do 'sleep.'

No knock. You got the law after you Boi ? Lol

Recently I learned that if you don't get enough sunlight, your body doesn't make enough melatonin, and that leads to a longer sleep/wake cycle.

Interesting. Well, my home is surrounded by lots of very tall trees in the woods. Lately. I avoid going out much. I like my solitude.
My home is shaded from the sun. Hmm. Maybe, I need the sunshine to sleep whenever that may be.

[–] 1 pt

I also love my solitude. Divorced. Child grown. And I work from hoke, or anywhere I want to. New home will be ready this month. Moving to isolation. Closer to my dream of no niggers anywhere around my daily life.

But I get out and walk. I love maintaining landscaping. I hit the gym. You can’t be healthy in spirit, mind or body by completely shutting yourself in completely.

Get out, brother.

[–] 0 pt

True. I should get out more often.
I wake up a lot at night. Sometimes, sleep more during the day. Just woke up to a bear tearing into my trash. I can hear it now waking in the woods next to my home. I'm awake now again.

sun is also needed to synthesize vitamin D in the skin

[–] 0 pt

I used to love the sun. I don't go out in it much anymore. I prefer rainy, cloudy skies. I love being awake when it's overcast outside these days.

Maybe thats why I struggle to sleep. I haven't left California and it worries me.

Faster, Puffycat, kill, kill.

[–] 1 pt

I just got out of mini California (Washington) and I tell you what, I haven't slept this well in years

[–] 0 pt

I'm glad to hear it. I should have been gone already, but there's a personal holdup I have to deal with first. My anxiety is sometimes through the roof. Just woke up to a bear dragging my trash across the road. I have to stay up to clean up the mess at sunrise in about 3 hours.

[–] 3 pts

Used to get 5-6 hours if lucky. Now I do 9+ if I can!

[–] 1 pt

Nice. What are you doing differently? Do you drink a glass of wine before bed? Meditate? Take PMs?

[–] 2 pts

Used to be military, now I take nightcaps, any cocktail will do pretty much

[–] [deleted] 4 pts

Water dude. Drink water stay away from alkyhol at night.

[–] 3 pts

So, you were in the military? PTSD? Now, you have to drink something to help you sleep.

I never use to drink. Now, I'll have a glass of champagne or wine before bed, but, that doesn't work for me either. I wake up to go to the bathroom and feel dehydrated. Need something stronger.

Maybe, I need to hit my head against the wall to knock me out. I think the craziness in the world keeps me on edge. It's hard to sleep. One eye open kinda' thing.

[–] 2 pts

any cocktail will do

Nigger taking Jager-Bombs and dreaming of bar fight.

I often sleep with the lights on, due to sleep paralysis.

My bed is extremely uncomfortable on purpose, I have to toss and turn throughout the night, so I never get a chance to dream too deeply.

I usually go to sleep at around midnight, and wake up at five in the morning.

Commenting bc interesting thread I want to see the ending of...

I posted some of what happened after I took the mind development course. I have more to tell. It's up above. I think I was being fucked with. I did invite one of the instructors to my home. Which in hindsight is weird. Actually, he invited himself. I was young so I agreed. He did NLP on me at my home.

[–] 1 pt

Strange stuff indeed. I was part of the GATE program when younger but didn't realize it may have had a nefarious purpose much like what your instructor may have had in my mind.

May seem like an obtuse correlation, but because of that, I find it interesting how so many music icons had fathers involved in military intelligence programs during the 60s-70s

[–] 2 pts (edited )

I also leave a light on so I can see in the dark if I'm awakened by some strange noise out doors. I have few neighbors. I live in the forest.

BTW, I had something similar to sleep paralysis once in the 90s. It was after I took a mind development course that I think the CIA was involved with. Happened a long time ago,but its hard to forget.

As far as sleep goes, mine is erratic. I wake, whenever I do sleep, almost every two hours.

[–] 1 pt

How was the mind development course?

I was really good at it. One of the things they had us do was program our dreams. You would tell yourself you wanted to remember your dreams before bed. Then, you would have a pen and paper next to you before you slept so you could record your dreams. Long story, but I had something very odd happen to me when recording a dream. BTW, three of the instructors won the lottery programming their dreams.

They also had us intuitively diagnose people's health problems we didn't know. Then, they had us try to cure them with our minds. I was very good at diagnosing people.

I was in my 20s back then. I was naive. One of the male instructors wanted to come to my home and do NLP on me. NLP is neurolinguistic programming. I invited him to my home. Afterwards, i had some very odd experiences at my home when the course ended. These experiences didnt seem quite paranormal, but instead they seemed more technology based.

There's more though...

You probably have sleep apnea. You should get your self checked for that, it is very serious.

[–] 0 pt

I think I breathe ok at night. My mind just never really rest. I just slept about 2 hours and woke back up. I can go back to sleep though if I try.

[–] 1 pt

I am not trying to argue or be a contrarian, just a bit of curiosity. Try recording your self at night. Charge up your phone, get a recording app, and record your self. Sleep apnea will often see people not breathe for 10 to 30 seconds at a time. Their nervous system will wake them up to get the breathing going and people think they are waking up for other reasons.

The reason I say that is that when the rem cycle kicks in, no amount of the worlds worries will keep you from sleeping. If you barely sleep even on days where you are physically exhausted, it is almost certainly a physically related issue.

Give it a try.

I barely sleep ever lately. And when I do, it's sporadic usually. However, there are days when I get a lot of sleep. But, I still wake up almost every two hours. I'll get up to drink something and go to the bathroom. I just woke up to the sound of a bear rummaging through my garbage. I can't go back to sleep now. I have a big mess to clean up at sunrise.

As far as a recording app, I'll try that. It sounds interesting. If I'm not breathing for a few seconds before I wake, will I hear gasping sounds?

[–] 0 pt

Bears are out. Waking up to the sound of trash being thrown across the street

[–] 2 pts

Interesting to see that most of us here don't sleep much. I'm sleeping more at night during winter and usually less in the summer during which I'll nap mid-day during the warmer part of the day. I can only remember my dreams for a few minutes after waking up. I can sometimes remember them longer if they were really upsetting.

[–] 0 pt

I too sleep my best when it's cooler. I'll also take short naps when it's warmer, but I wake more easily because it's warmer. If I was in a deep sleep when I wake suddenly, I remember my dreams. But, like you, I don't remember them for long.

[–] 2 pts

I often sleep during the day, with the windows blacked out, because being awake makes me unhappy.

My bed is extremely comfortable by design. If I wanted to, I would never have to wake up.

I usually sleep from 5:00 AM until around Midnight.

[–] 0 pt (edited )

The sunlight bothers my eyes. I like it dark as well. I would say, if I did had a natural sleep pattern, I would sleep when it's sunny and wake at night. I like cool and quiet.

I've been waking to a feeling of anxiety lately. So, I understand about waking and not feeling great. Maybe that's why I'm usually a night owl. I work hard at going to sleep at a decent hour. Btw, I woke up and stayed up at 2AM PST. Hopefully, I can sleep soon. Although, even if I fall asleep soon, I'll wake every 2 hours and the slightest noise or scent will awaken me.

[–] 1 pt

What scents wake you up?

[–] 1 pt

I have an acute sense of smell and hearing. Sometimes, I'm not sure if they're even physical smells or sounds. I'm intuitive that way.

However, I live in a old home. I've called the gas company in the middle of the night several times in the 11 years I've lived here. They'll walk in and smell nothing, but the gadget they use to detect gas lights up. They're always surprised I smelled anything because it's very subtle.

[–] 2 pts

I sleep when I can. It varies.

[–] 1 pt

You sound a bit like me. My sleep is all over the board. And that's when I actually sleep.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

My sleep used to be haphazard until about five years ago when I started lifting weights and I realize that very large percentage of my gains would be ruined by a lack of sleep.

It’s funny, once you’re motivated enough and have enough reason to do it, you find a way to get some fucking sleep when you need it. I used to think the people who took naps in the middle of the day were lazy.

Not anymore. I realize how restorative sleep is and I try to get it whenever I can. I’ve got a bunch of kids so it’s hard sometimes, but I’ll sneak one in when I can and definitely try to get plenty of sleep at night. If I get a shitty nights sleep you better goddamn will believe I’m napping the next day especially if I worked out that day. The more I nap, the more I sneak sleep, the more I sleep well at night, the more energy I have, the more life there is to my life. Sleep is so important.

[–] 0 pt

Good point about making yourself sleep when you need it. I used to work out a lot and always took cat naps. I do take short naps throughout the day still when I can.

[–] 1 pt

When I can.

It's good you can when you can. ;)
