I usually have plans, but this year I don't yet. Last year, like almost every year, we went to our neighbors across the road for a barbecue. Then, at around 9pm, several of us would walk to our other neighbors lake home around the corner to watch fireworks over the lake. On the way back home, however. for the last two years in a row, we saw bears in the road. So.for that reason, I don't want to walk to the lakehouse this 4th.

Any big plans for the 4th?

The problem with bear spray is it gets everywhere.

Gas masks, couldnt think of something possibly more american than gas masks on the 4th of july.

But in all seriousness, it's just a contingency. Unlikely to be a problem with the bears. And if there is, guess what, you'll be glad you have the spray. I don't think in that scenario you'll be much bothered with the mess. 'Almost attacked by a bear' sounds like the ultimate 4th of july story anyway. Holiday made.

My daughter almost got attacked two years in a row. She's 11 today. That's why we won't walk to the lakehouse on the 4th again.i nearly had a heart attack both times!

Seeing a bear on the other side of the lake doesn't count as "almost".

No . It was head on. We were in the street and it was directly in front of us as we walked home. Last year, my daughter ran out ahead of us. I told her to stay back. Luckily, a neighbor's dog was with us and ran slightly ahead of her and confronted the bear head on. I screamed and ran to get my daughter. It was scary
