Yeah, most of them aren't worth a damn, and there are partner sites listed on this one as well, but I've gotten pretty decent results from it, especially considering it's free.
I just spent the last half hour trying to remember names from my past and seeing who's alive and who's dead.
How do I delete myself off of this thing? When I search other people that I've known, sometimes I'll see 'didn't find anything'. So I'd imagine they got their names off the internet somehow.
I have no idea. I think it's probably just gathering publicly available information, but it is still a bit unnerving. Maybe one of those companies that provide an online reputation cleanup service might help. I have zero social media presence that's tied to my actual name, so I know they didn't get it from there. One of the people it says I'm associated with is an ex girlfriend whom I haven't seen or talked to since 1990.
Damn. I haven't used my name on social media in a while. It's always a bastardization of it. Maybe DMV or who knows. Or maybe something I signed up for online who sold my info that's more than likely it.
