Why in the hell do most poor or non English speaking people use “speaker” when conducting a phone call?

I personally do not want to hear the blabber. Non-English is the worst. It might as well be a dog barking.

My mom does this, I find it annoying both when I call her, and when shes on the phone. Then when she switches off speaker, I feel like whoever shes talking to is running their mouth.

If they are by themselves…I don’t care one bit. I think my real rub is that it’s just rude, distracting, and totally unnecessary.
