Why in the hell do most poor or non English speaking people use “speaker” when conducting a phone call?

I personally do not want to hear the blabber. Non-English is the worst. It might as well be a dog barking.

I don't see this happening.

Must be some weird local thing for you. I've travelled all over the US for work and I don't see this very often.

Most of the time, when I see this, it is a mom with no free hands.
