There are a lot of cities and towns in Germany that have names ending in "burg" or "berg." It comes from the word for "castle" or "fortified town." Jews from those area took the names as their own surnames, thereby ruining it for everyone.

Imagine how it feels to be a Lutheran living in Augsburg.
