I don't agree. This ruling actually prevents a federal law restricting citizens rights to carry guns. In New York, you had to have your unloaded gun in a locked box with ammo in a separate locked box and you could only transport them in separate locked areas of a vehicle between your home and the range. Any deviation would result in a felony possession charge. The law was basically that you could own a gun, but it had to stay in your house.

Exactly. Bureaucratic disarmament. Additionally, if you did use your gun in your own house, you would be prosecuted. In New York, the law says you are required to retreat. No Castle Doctrine. This guarantees you are prosecutes and must prove your innocence by proving you could not retreat. Many New Yorkers do not acquire guns for protection because they fear sever prosecution for what seems like minor infractions
