I absolutely love to read. I'm a book collector. But, I have to be in the right frame of mind and at peace otherwise I get distracted.
I know what you mean about using positive language instead of negative. Most people aren't all that informed and don't understand why one would be worried. Therefore, I try hard to censor the negative. Many don't want to understand.
For some reason I stopped reading books a while back and voraciously consumed online sources instead. Being able to quickly find a lot of related information really quickly is very addictive, given that I grew up lugging books back from the library and checking anything back then probably took days of work.
I'm sure this changing meta alters how we think? I remember working 9-5 and being so bored with the lack of input, now I'll be wide awake at 3am because I'd randomly discovered some new topic to understand...
I like having books in my library at home so I can be sure they don't get censored or delete one. But, like you, I love consuming information.
I've had lots going on recently so haven't been reading as much. I'm most content with a book. I love sitting indoors when it rains with a blanket, book and hot chocolate.
