You rely on systems, on others. Power system. Network system. Financial system. Highway system. Medical system. Etc. any of these go down, where does that leave you? We don’t rely on anyone, it’s much more work but we get everything done, and never left out in the dark by some one else’s screwup.
Wd40 is shit. Sorry, it is. Test it. Terrible lubricant, absorbs water and creates acid that rusts parts overnight, low smoke point…. No factory I’ve been in uses it. There’s simply better answers for every scenario.
We aren’t camping, we are restarting society from an old fork in technology to live well.
This is a great site too. Www.lowtechmagazine.com
No, we aren’t leaving, we are building, growing, investing in the future of our children. I take great pride in craftsmanship, I build things to last.
A sedentary life style isn't necessarily suited post civilizational collapse... Just saying. You might need to evacuate because a fucking horde of savage spotted your little paradise, because they were evidently looking for exactly that, what do you do? You grab the back pack and that's about it
And yes there's a bottle of wd40 in pretty much every fucking garage and factory on this planet, it's mostly used as a penetrating oil on rusted pieces
The survival rate for those who fled their location and supplies is poor, sometimes a poor chance is better than none. We chose a remote location, it is likely we won’t ever need to flee. Having a community of like minded people is the best security, as well as very far from a city. I have read up on all the potential scenarios.
Wd40 is a mass market product living off an old reputation. It’s an inferior penetrant, it has mild properties of rust removal because it turns acidic with humidity. Wd40 is available and that’s why it’s used by those who don’t have the desire or knowledge to find a better product. Kraft American cheese is found in a lot of homes, not because it’s good, but because it’s familiar and available.
Doesn't matter what you think of wd40, that's beside the point. Reality is that you don't do shit without tools, and tools aren't just hammers and nails, especially when machines are involved
Now if you live just like an amish good for you, that being said I don't think "the little house on the prairie" and "madmax" are going to mix very well if it comes down to that...
