Mousetrap/Rat Trap idea is what you need to do; but I'm going to modify it slightly. Get a hot glue gun, and glue a peanut or cashew onto the trigger, then put peanut butter on that.
The rodent will smell the butter, come and start licking it, recognize the nut, and either grab it, or take a bite and die.
If you just put the butter on the trigger itself, they won't set off the trap anywhere as often.
Don't put out one or two traps, seed the house, garage and patio with dozens of them.
Check your dryer exhaust vent seal, and door weather seals.
Good ideas, thanks.
Usually we use the largest size snap trap and jam a peanut unto the fold to ensure a good tug. Never considered hot glue.
Also: be sure to check the trap daily to reduce the stink and potential damage.
Agreed on all points, buddy suggested the hot glue thing and it really makes a difference. Triples the efficiency in my experience. Bad land lady so I had plenty of opportunities to experiment.
Poison sucks.
