Yesterday I opened maybe 6-7 comment threads into separate tabs right after another. I noticed the last two weren't loading, then nothing on the site would load for me.

Thought maybe the site was down, checked later, I still couldn't load anything but if I used my phone's mobile connection it was fine.

So it looks like opening that many tabs all within a couple seconds of another triggered some spam/ddos protection and blocked my IP.

I've verified my ISP isn't blocking, and I can access the site from VPN as well. It's just with the single IP address that the site doesn't load at all.

Today the apparent IP block is still active, so I don't know if there's a longer cooldown period or if the block is permanent.

Any insights on this, my fellow Poalacks?

from opening too many tabs at once.

Browsers can remember the past browsing session and will load all the tabs at once, which will flood poal server with requests and will get caught by the anti-DDoS algorithm.

So try to close the tabs before closing the browser.

PM me the first 3 blocks of the blocked IP and I'll unblock it.

Thanks for the reply. I did close the tabs in that original session and never reloaded them. Just tried accessing the homepage every couple hours since yesterday. Figured I caught myself in anti-DDoS protection by middle clicking too many tabs at once.

I guess that explains why I've been blocked for a few days. it seems a bit aggressive with a long cooldown though.

I tried my best to find a fair compromise. Legit users don't flood a dozen requests in a such short period of time.

I get that. I just have a lot of tabs open and my system crashes more than I like and restoring my sessions could be seen as a flood. I also makes it a little difficult having multiple people using the same IP.

do what you have to, I just didnt find a post about it till now and was wondering if I had a broken route or something. Most ISP'S dont give out a new ip lease after the modem reboots or us disconnected for an hour + anymore.
