Feet are filled with muscles for walking and running. Padded shoes means you don't have to use those muscles. So the muscles atrophy. So you buy more expensive more padded shoes. So your foot muscles atrophy even more. Then your feet are all fucked up.

I switched to flat sandals. It took six months to regrow my foot muscles. Now my feet are fine.

I highly recommend old style Converse Allstars. They now make a wide version. No bizarre inner support padding.

Also helps if you actually use your feet for walking, not just legs. Bend and flex, feet are like hands that can grip the ground. Grab the earth with your toes.
It also helps to learn keeping your balance at all times. While standing, sink slightly into your feet, letting your knees bend slightly, one foot farther back, will also help tone legs.
