They can be xenophobic.
If, by "xenophobic", you mean having an in-group preference and a willingness to be honest about the average differences among disparate groups... yeah, that's true, and something you'll appreciate once you work your way to be accepted by the group.
kid's amenities
Totally agree with this sentiment, but fully disagree with the description. Teach your kids to enjoy nature. Swimming in a lake, fishing in a river, building snow forts, climbing trees, setting up a camp fire, etc. Having lived in an urban environment half my childhood, and a rural environment the other half, if definitely seemed to me that rural kids had way more fun on a regular basis. Plus, you can still take a drive to the cities if you want the occasional amusement park or whatever
Work your way up the accepted group? Like work your way up the accepted group of junkies? Many small towns are white ghettos.
