Teach your kids to enjoy nature. Swimming in a lake, fishing in a river, building snow forts, climbing trees, setting up a camp fire, etc. Having lived in an urban environment half my childhood, and a rural environment the other half, if definitely seemed to me that rural kids had way more fun on a regular basis. Plus, you can still take a drive to the cities if you want the occasional amusement park or whatever
